Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Associate to join their dynamic team. This role is essential in ensuring that ESG principles are integrated into their investment decision-making process. You will contribute to the long-term goal of improved stewardship and sustainability of investee companies. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement ESG strategies. Conduct ESG due diligence on transactions, both pre and post. Monitor and report on ESG plans and issues within investment portfolios. Train staff and investee companies on ESG compliance and issues. Conduct periodic impact analysis and ESG research. Engage with companies on Environmental, Social, Governance, and Technology (ESGT) issues. Develop tools and frameworks for integrating ESGT analysis into the investment process. Contribute to ESG thought leadership and client reporting. Qualifications: Honours degree related to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). 5-7 years of experience in an ESG role. Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Business Leadership (MBL) or ESG-related Master's qualification (advantageous). Membership in relevant professional bodies, such as the Institute of Directors, South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions, or Chartered Institute of Secretaries. Key Skills and Competencies: Strong understanding of corporate governance principles and frameworks. Familiarity with environmental and social legislative frameworks. Experience in social impact assessment and ESG due diligence. Proficiency in portfolio monitoring and reporting. Knowledge of Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) issues. Good understanding of capital markets and the investment management industry. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to conduct research and analysis. Strong teamwork and cooperation skills. Commercial business acumen and the ability to take initiative.
